Trade - Poland and Spain
Economic cooperation between Poland and Spain takes place in a single European Union market, with free movement of goods, services, capital and people. The turnover of goods between the Polish and Spanish market is increasing, although as a result of the current economic slowdown the growth rate of export of Polish goods to the Spanish is reducing the positive trade balance. In 2005 the exchange was 3.52 billion, in 2006 4.17 billion, in 2007 5.44 billion. In 2005, Poland recorded the first positive trade balance, and this remains until now. According to the Polish Ministry of Economy in 2006 the positive trade balance reached almost 200 million euro, in 2007 increased to over 400 million. During the months of January-November 2008, the exchange dropped down to down to 15.4 million euro, while exports amounted to 2,75 billion euro (an increase of 3% over the corresponding period of previous year), while imports amounted to 2,73 billion euro (an increase of 17%). Taking into consideration the projected negative growth of GDP in Spain in 2009 (-1.6%), the downward trend growth of exports of Polish goods to Spanish is expected to deepen
The dominant products of the Polish exports to Spain have been machinery, mechanical appliances, electrical equipment, vehicles, aircraft, vessels, base metals, plastics and rubber. The main exporting companies are international Corporations with production facilities based in Poland - Philips Consumer Electronics, Isuzu Motors Poland, Ficosa, Fiat Auto Poland, Stomil Olsztyn (Michelin) and Thomson Multimedia.
The imports from Spain have been dominated by vehicles, aircraft, vessels, machinery and mechanical appliances, electrical equipment, base metals, articles of base metal, vegetable and agriculture products. |
